THE BAND HAS PERFORMED NOT ONLY ACROSS THE COASTAL BEND, BUT ALSO IN HOUSTON, DALLAS, THE RIO GRANDE VALLEY, WASHINGTON, D.C., AND PEARL HARBOR, HAWAII, INCLUDING EVENTS CONNECTED TO THE DECOMMISSIONING OF THE USS CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI SUBMARINE, AND; WHEREAS, THE GROUP'S MISSION IS TO HONOR AND PAY TRIBUTE TO AMERICAN VETERANS, PROMOTE PATRIOTISM, AND ENHANCE THE DIGNITY OF MILITARY AND CIVIC CEREMONIES. LAST YEAR OUR GRANT THAT A COURT ALLOWED US TO GO FOR, FUND A STUDY. AN ECONOMIC IMPACT STUDY ON THE ECONOMIC IMPACT OF THE DRUG COURT AND THE FAMILY AGREE UNIFICATION THEY PROVIDE AND WE WANTED TO GIVE HIGHLIGHTS OF THAT BECAUSE WE THOUGHT THEY WERE REALLY IMPORTANT FOR THE COMMUNITY TO SEE AND THE COMMISSIONERS TO SEE ON WHAT A DOLLAR WE PUT IN, HOW MUCH THE COMMUNITY GETS BACK OUT OF THAT. WE'VE GRADUATED DOZENS OF PARENTS AND THAT'S LED TO THE REUNIFICATION OF MANY CHILDREN THROUGH OUT THE YEARS ESPECIALLY [00:40:02] DURING THIS STUDY. A COURT REUNIFIED 73 CHILDREN REDUCING THE DAYS IN FOSTER CARE BY 9606 ON AVERAGE. BASICALLY THE ECONOMIC IMPACT THEY LOOKED AT AND THIS IS BOTH FISCAL, PUBLIC SECTOR, COST AVOIDANCE AND LIFETIME EARNINGS GAIN AND THESE MODELS WERE VERY CONSERVATIVE MODELS AND AS YOU CAN SEE, JUST THE ECONOMIC IMPACT OVER OUR COUPLE OF YEARS OF THE PROGRAM THEY WERE EVALUATING WAS OVER $3.8 MILLION. SO THE COST AVOIDANCE BREAK DOWN IS REDUCED FOSTER CARE SAVINGS, EVERY DAY THAT A CHILD ISN'T IN THE FOSTER CARE SYSTEM BECAUSE THEY'VE BEEN REUNIONIFIED WITH AN APPROPRIATE PARENT IS MONEY THAT THE SYSTEM IS SAVING AND IN ADDITION, WE ALSO SEE SAVINGS ON PARENT WHO IS ARE NOT GOING BACK INTO JAIL AND HAVING THAT RECIDIVISM AND PARENTS, IT'S AN INTERESTING CORRELATION BUT PARENT WHO IS ARE NOT USING ER AND HAVING MORE HEALTHCARE CRISES BECAUSE OF THEIR DRUGS YOU SO YOU CAN SEE THAT'S ALSO A MAJOR COST AVOIDANCE. THERE'S BEEN ALMOST A MILLION DOLLARS IN DIRECT PUBLIC SAVINGS FROM AVOIDED FOSTER CARE JAIL AND E R COSTS AND I WANT TO MENTION A LITTLE INSIDE BASEBALL, BUT THE COST FOR FOSTER CARE REIMBURSEMENT UNDER, WHEN THEY WERE DOING THIS STUDY THE LEGISLATURE ALMOST DOUBLED IT IN RECENT MONTHS AND SO, WE'RE SAVING EVEN MORE MONEY TO THE PUBLIC THROUGH OUR DRUG COURT PROGRAM. VERY, VERY FISCALLY REASONABLE AND THE FISCAL RETURN IS 6 POINT 2 DOLLARS FOR EVERY DOLLAR INVESTED. $21 FOR EVERY DOLLAR INVEST IN HUMAN CAPITAL RETURN. BASKETBALL, BASEBALL, SOCCER GAMES, AT TIMES CADDYING FOR HIS YOUNG GRANDSON WHEN HE BECAME INTERESTED IN GOLF. ENSURE THAT HE HAD LEFT HIS LEGACY WHICH WAS SO IMPORTANT TO HIM. HE WAS AN EXCELLENT ATHLETE WITH GOLF AND BASKETBALL. BEING A YEAR'S LONG MEMBER OF THE DOWNTOWN YMCA WHERE HE HAVE -- HONED HIS SKILLS. ALWAYS WITHIN THE AREA WHERE HE COACHED THE LITTLE LEAGUE BASEBALL AND WAS DELIGHTED TO SEE SOME OF HIS PLAYERS ADVANCE AND BECOME GOOD HIGH SCHOOL PLAYERS AND MAKE SURE EVERYBODY KNEW THAT HE ONCE COACHED THAT KID IS HE WOULD SAY.
